The psalmist reminds us, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (Ps 24:1). We are living in God’s world. He made it, sustains it, and rules over it. Worldly thinking starts by imagining that the world is a neutral place where we are free to do as we please, but godly wisdom remembers that if the Lord wills, we will live, and do this or that. This past month we have had the blessing of seeing many beautiful places in God’s world: the snowcapped Andes, the vast Pacific, and the great, silent Atacama desert. We traveled about 3400 miles, first south to Temuco, and then back north to Arica, and then home again to Antofagasta. In Temuco we got to meet and fellowship with many brothers and sisters. It was the coldest weekend of the year (21º at night), so we shivered our way through it. Then we flew all the way north to Arica on the border with Perú for our GMSA Chile mid-year fellowship. We enjoyed the time with our missionary colleagues, as well as our newest appointees, Jansen and Kalee Lorch, who were there on a survey trip. Our travels were uneventful, although we are always mindful that we are trusting God for safety and travel mercies.

Our church elected and confirmed a team of three deacons and deaconesses and Mark has the privilege of leading them as they begin to serve our church. We continue to share our lives with our brothers and sisters and encourage them to follow Jesus. We are thankful for a church family with whom we can share our birthdays and special moments.

This coming month we are looking forward to taking an anniversary trip to Iguazu Falls, receiving two nieces from the United States for a week, and continuing our Bible studies with our church families. We appreciate your prayers.
