We know that most of you in the northern hemisphere are not thinking warm summer thoughts right now, but Psalm 74:17 reminds us, “Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.” God, the Creator and Maintainer of all things, has fixed seasons and boundaries for his universe. The passing of time and the changing seasons remind us that he remains sovereignly active over his creation.
Summer in Chile officially begins when the school year ends in December. Then come the Christmas holidays and the new year, and then everyone takes their vacations. For us, January brings our annual missionary conference, held in the south of Chile. This year the Gospel Mission of South America celebrated 100 years since its founder, William Strong, arrived in Chile to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. We enjoyed a wonderful week with our fellow missionaries from Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay, along with many visitors from the United States. We heard great messages and historical readings, ate amazing meals, and enjoyed the beauty of the south of Chile (snow-capped volcanos, beautiful lakes, and green everywhere!).
We are still waiting on our on our new ID cards—but what’s a couple more weeks after the last several years? We took a new picture of our Antofagasta team since the Flincks’ sons, Jordan and Ben, were able to be back for Christmas. We enjoyed visiting with them and hearing how God has been working in their lives.
God continues to bring visitors—believers and unbelievers—to our services. We’re thankful for gospel opportunities and we pray that God will open spiritual eyes to see the glory of Jesus Christ. We appreciate your continued prayers for us and for the Iglesia Berea in Antofagasta.
